Took in an old guitar for a set up. They did a wonderful job with amazing attention to detail. In addition to sounding and playing like new, they also cleaned and polished it to a high mirror shine! Oh, and they even replaced the missing plastic tip on the pickup selector switch. Such a nice touch! Highly recommended!

Oct 24, 2020 · bryan smithMy experience with staff has been positive. They have a good attitude towards music and have helped me find the right guitar all three times I've made purchases. I took lessons here as well and found a great teacher in Matt O'Brien who has really helped me excel and became a friend as well. This is a good local music store to use.
Jan 06, 2015 · Andrew Van TreeckDuring the past Christmas holiday, I took advantage of a Black Friday sale a big box music store was having to order an acoustic electric guitar and a fender amp. The sale was 15% off...so I saved quite a bit on a $450 guitar and a $900 amp. Both were shipped to my work and sold as new. Christmas Day when my wife opened the items both were damaged. Come to find out they were pulled from store showrooms and sold as new. I called Hix and spoke with Sean. He & Carl price matched the purchases and ordered new direct from the factory. They helped us open up each box at the store and sure enough they were damage free. Great service. We'll continue to purchase from Hix. Done with the other guys.
Jan 27, 2017 · Brian FilippiI initially had a positive experience with this store when I got my guitar set up. It wasn't purchased there, but they did the setup and re-string for a reasonable price. When I got my guitar back, the guitar had it's strap on it, but when I got it back later that day, it wasn't there. I didn't play it for a couple days after so I didn't notice it, but when I went to play it - no strap. Not a big deal, I'll just call them and have them put it at the front desk for me. However, when I called back, they said they can't find it, told me to check the bag. Checked it again (obviously checked there first when I realized it wasn't on the guitar) and not there. I call them back to let them know it's not there, and they accuse me of losing the strap. First of all, I know it's a pain in the ass to take on and off (new strap, stiff leather) so I would have known if I had taken it off the guitar. Second, there's no apology for losing said strap, and the guy even has the balls to tell me they didn't lose it but he guesses he could buy me a new one if that's what I'm looking for... I'm not looking for a freaking hand out, just admit you lost the strap and you'd be happy to replace it. That simple. Sorry, but if you can't handle a customer's possessions properly, and then can't admit when you messed up, I can find somewhere else to spend my money.
Feb 10, 2014 · Adam WatersGenerally a good local music store with friendly staff and limited equipment (it is a family owned business). I've gone there because it's convenient and close and I can usually get what I need. HOWEVER, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TAKING A GUITAR THERE FOR REPAIRS/TECH-WORK. The communication was poor. No estimate. Just a final charge which was high, in my opinion. When trying to solve the problem, the tech was unavailable. But, the owner, Karl and I did come to a compromise. I wish I would have read the other reviews because, apparently, I'm not the only person who has had issues with their tech. Be warned! That aside, it's a fine music store with friendly people.
