My family and friends has been clients of Bein and Fushi for many decades (since the 80’s or 90’s. They opened in 76, I believe. My grandmother often spoke to me about this business when I was growing up. When you can count on decades, it means more than words. Back in 2019, I had left some instruments and when I came to pick up the upraised instruments they gave me a note that my grandmother had written (typed)… Wow, she had passed away in 2007,… she loved her violins and was one of my inspiration to learn to play in my childhood. Stopped by for a quick visit in 2024 regarding some of our instruments, Gabriel remembers me even after 5 years! Can’t wait to hear what he has to say about my family’s instruments.

I had originally visited Bein and Fushi in the hopes of purchasing a fine violin. At that point in my journey I had already spoken to several other very well respected violin dealers. All of them were good and none were great. Throughout my search I must have looked at fifty or more instruments and not one of these were the “right one”. During my first visit to Bein and Fushi I was greeted by John. I must start by saying that John is a gentleman in every sense of the word. His knowledge of the violin is encyclopedic. On this particular occasion I was there to view an instrument by a very specific maker. When I had originally called to inquire about this maker, John and I spoke on then phone. He informed me that they had a very fine example available. Moreover, he was available to show me this violin that very day. The violin in question was truly as described. The condition was spectacular, and the instrument was rather unique in many ways. Additionally unique was John’s complete ability to answer any question honestly and precisely. To say that John sold me this violin would be inaccurate. Rather, he provided the foundation and framework that facilitated a fantastic experience. Needless to say, I bought this violin and I have absolutely enjoyed playing it nearly every day. I have returned to Bein and Fushi several times since my initial visit and it continues to be the same fantastic place. Their selection is world-class. This fact is well known. However, their honesty and integrity is also world-class. I give them my highest recommendation.
Apr 20, 2023 · Mark DanonI always enjoy a visit here. They are so helpful to me. Last year I bought a 1/4 violin from here and received many praise from festivals. So I bought a 1/2 size this time and it also sounds amazing! Besides what I was looking to try for myself or for my students, Gabriel is always wonderful and never forget to let me play the best violin in the shop. But 15 millions is too much for me :) but such a treat to try! It is always a highlight of our trip to Chicago.

Additionally he helped me select a Panormo and two fabulous bows by Voirin and Henry. The Henry is now my favorite bow of my nice collection. I always had an excellent experience with BF over 40 years. In fact, I bought my first fine bow from them in 1979 when they were still in boxes and hadn't yet fully moved in to the Fine Arts Building. They always treated me with utmost respect and consideration. Will always feel grateful for their professionalism and care.
