I dropped off my saxophone at this store on February 14th for an evaluation and was told I would hear back within 5-7 days once the repairman had a chance to look at it. After 14 days with no update, I called and was told, “We’re gonna call him right now and we’ll let you know what he says.” I never heard back. A few days later, I followed up again and was told, “We can’t get ahold of him but we'll let you know when we do." Two days after that, I called again and was given the same response. At this point, it had been three weeks since I dropped off my instrument. After another week with no communication, I called again and was finally told that the repairman was having health issues and would not be able to work on it. When I said I would come pick up my saxophone, I was told I couldn’t because it was still at his house. Instead of retrieving the instruments themselves, they were waiting for the repairman’s friend to return them “sometime the following week.” After pressing for more details, they confirmed the date it would be available for pickup. I was finally able to pick up my instrument five weeks after dropping it off with no work, not even an assessment, done on it. I understand that unexpected issues can come up, but at no point did the store take responsibility for communication or retrieving customers’ instruments in a timely manner. Simply keeping me up to date or being more proactive about getting the instruments back would have made a huge difference. This entire experience was completely unprofessional and some of the worst customer service I've ever encountered.

My son has been taking private drum lessons here for over a year. His instructor is kind, positive and knowledgeable. He really enjoys his lessons and looks forward to them each week. His skills are continually improving. Rescheduling lessons due to personal conflicts hasn’t been a problem, and the location is very convenient for us. Recommend checking this place out.

Learning anything new as an adult can be a daunting task, but I am really glad I found Flatts and Sharpe! 3 years of piano lessons with Eric and I have gained not just music knowledge and ability but confidence as well! Justin and the staff have always provided a welcoming and fun atmosphere. Highly recommend this gem of Rogers Park!

What can one say? This is a REAL old time music store maybe the only small store of it's kind left in Chicago. You can buy and rent instruments take lessons they have a showcase for students it's an all around great space. So SUPPORT THEM and keep this gem alive!

My daughter has been taking guitar lessons with James for the fall semester. She’s gained a lot of confidence and skills and stays motivated with the tunes he shared with her. She’s gonna keep on strumming with him. So lucky to have this resource so close to home right in Roger’s Park!
