I was across from FYE at Books-a-Million, and my 3 year old, being a toddler, had a meltdown AT BOOKS-A-MILLION, not even in their store! It was right at the exit into the mall. We use a child harness due to him being a rambunctious 3 year old. Once he was calmed down, I was holding him, and we walked into FYE with my cousin. The SECOND I walked in, they started talking loud. I looked at my 3 year old and told him, "See, your actions don't just affect you." There were 2 employees in there, the guy was the STORE manager and the lady I think said that she was the assistant manager, but regardless she was an employee. As soon as I finished my sentence with my son, she said, and I quote, "Well maybe if you would actually parent your child, he wouldn't act like that." I was truly shocked. I said something along the lines of wow, but I didn't know I came here for parenting advice and that she had no reason to even comment on my parenting. Then the store manager started telling me how bad of a mother I was and that I was lucky they didn't call CPS on me for having a harness on my child and that since he was pulling I should have just let go of the strap and it wasn't even a busy mall, the only time that it should even be considered to be used is at a place like a concert with tons of people, even though it wasn't hurting him at all. My cousin had started recording, and I was trying to make my way back out of the store while I was defending myself, my parenting, and most importantly, my SON! Right in front of him, they were saying how bad he was and things like that. Once it got to that point, my cousin held up their phone, and the store manager literally said something along the lines of being TikTok famous. The second the lady realized she was being recorded, she totally flipped the switch and went from berating me to telling us it was private property, we couldn't record, and had to leave. We were literally, finally able to walk out of the store, and the security guard was walking by. She flagged him down and was telling him and making a scene in the middle of the mall. We showed him the video, and he was like yeah just don't go back in there. We definitely weren't. As we were walking towards Hot Topic, they must have found some random people, as no one was in the store besides us at the time and had them along with the store manager clap and cheer that we were leaving. I have NEVER been more disgusted with a place in my life. I made a comment that I would be making a report to higher-ups, and she laughed in my face, pointed to the guy, and said, "Good luck with that, he's the store manager." Like what?! I was so confused at their stupidity that I was just flabbergasted. There are obviously people above him, like district, regional, etc. I have not been able to get ahold of anyone from FYE through their phone numbers or contact forms. I really hope everyone sees this, and I will be posting the video. How heartless is it to talk bad about a child, especially in front of him. When we got out there, we literally had to explain to him that he is not bad. There are just mean people in this world. I used it as a learning lesson for him to always stand up for himself.

Awful store. I was looking at an air freshener and put it down to go to another store and the worker followed me all the way to the next store to accuse me of stealing. I had to walk all the way back to FYE to prove that I left it in the store. I am not worried about a $5 air freshener buddy.

Eh, decent. Used to have a guy named Shawn that worked there. He would get pissy with you if you didn鈥檛 subscribe to whatever magazines they had. Dude must have been hurting for cash or something and needed the commission. Here鈥檚 an idea, work a big boy job and not one meant for a college or Highschool student. 馃槀

Very rude staff! My son made a simple comment and one of the employees came out into the corridor and was extremely unprofessional with his words and his actions!
