We recently went to Sapp Violins to purchase a Violin to use for Indian music. The store was about to close in 10 mins, but Mel was kind enough to let us in and we didn't even make an appointment. She gave few violins to try out and my daughter liked one of them. She recommended us to take home the violin and try it out for few days. She did not even ask for a credit card. We returned back after few days to make the purchase. She gave a lot of tips and advice on how to take care of the violin. Mel is amazing and provided fantastic customer service.

A long overdue review: We are extremely fortunate to have a luthier of Greg's caliber in the suburbs! Normally one has to go downtown for his level of expertise. I trust him for any major or minor repairs on my fine instrument. They have helped me with my violin and bow many times over the years and always accommodate my schedule. Besides the quality of work, he and his wife are lovely people who go above and beyond for their customers. It's truly a pleasure to see them and to spend time in their store.

I should’ve made this review weeks ago, but I wanted to give a big thank you to Mel. She guided me in choosing the right cello to rent but most importantly, you can easily see how dedicated her and her husband are to the shop. It is very evident that they take a lot of pride in their craft and I appreciate everything that was done for me. I couldn’t give this place enough praise, and I will be returning any time I need anything because I know I can trust this business. Thank you again Mel!

I have been a customer of Sapp Violin for at least 10 years. I could not be more delighted with them. To have a superb luthier (Greg) take loving care of my viola and violin, as well as high quality rentals for my students (beautifully managed by Mel) is a string player’s dream. They also make it as easy as possible for purchasing. It’s not that easy to find a string shop run by knowledgeable and honest people. They absolutely fill that bill.

Update on Feb 4, 2023: I wanted to leave another review, but the system lets me only edit my previous review. Our daughter needed new strings on her (other) viola, and I happily made an appointment with Mel. Just as on our previous visit, it was a pleasure to see Mel and chat with her; and she did an amazing job putting new strings on my daughter's viola. The place is warm and welcoming, the service is fantastic, and Mel's wonderful personality just makes me feel like I'm chatting with my old friend over a cup of coffee. Thank you, Mel, we love visiting you! Earlier review, January 2022: We are relatively new to the area; we visited the place today - our daughter needed new strings on her viola, and her high school orchestra teacher recommended it - and it was a very positive, wonderful experience! The lady-in-charge, Mel, provided her expert service, top notch customer care, lots of attention to details. The place itself has a special, warm, old-world ambiance. We will be back whenever there is any need to repair or update the instrument. Thank you very much, Mel, it was very nice meeting you!
