Really disappointed by the way Northside Music handled moving my family piano after servicing it for over 30 years. I had them move it from Lafayette to Indy for $450. Before it was moved, there were two existing areas of chipped veneer (which occurred the last time they moved it). Upon it being delivered to my house, one of the chipped areas doubled in size and is now peeling, and there is an additional area of chipping. Unfortunately, when the two men delivered it I did not speak up for myself and signed the delivery form that I was told to sign with no explanation. It had been raining that day, yet they moved it with no protection from the rain (it was drizzling at the time of delivery) and did not offer to clean off the surfaces of the piano, which had become wet and grimy. A day after it was delivered, I decided to call Northside Music because the two new areas of chipped/peeling veneer were concerning me. I was simply hoping for them to send out a technician to address the area that is peeling, so that it doesn't peel further. However, when I called and spoke with a man (I think his name was John Mills but do not remember for sure), and stated that there was new veneer damage after the move, he abruptly announced in a final and condescending manner that "they have documentation that those areas existed before the move." I was so in shock at the fact that he did not even ask me any questions about my concern that I thanked him and hung up. A few minutes later, I called back and attempted to explain that although I was aware that there were existing areas of chipped veneer, there were also new ones. I was told that this was not the case, that his men are "very careful," and that they have documentation to the contrary. When I objected, he again condescendingly informed me that the piano was "already in poor condition" and described the piano's construction as if it was not worth much to begin with. All I wanted was someone to ensure the peeling area didn't get worse. I was told I could pay to have someone come out but they would not offer to remediate the issue as a courtesy. My mother and my father both separately looked at the piano and were surprised at the new areas of damage. Unfortunately, we did not think to take photos before the move. I guess after 30+ years we were wrong to trust that Northside Music would be honest. Something happened to my piano during that move. The part that covers the keys is off center now, and there are the two new areas of veneer damage. See photos. This piano has been a part of our family since before I was born, and I intend to pass it onto my children. It seems that this value is simply not shared by Mr. Mills, since he clearly expressed how the piano was not worth much. Even if they would not send out a technician free of charge based on their "documentation," if he had spoken courteously to me on the phone and listened to my concerns and apologized that they couldn't help, I would've understood. But between the careless move, the additional damage, and the rudeness and dismissiveness of Mr. Mills, my family will never return to Northside Music and we do not recommend them for long-distance moves.

Mar 17, 2025 · Lizzie FrostWe went in and spent an hour and a half speaking with Milo about all things pianos. He was very knowledgeable and super nice and enthusiastic about all of our questions. The office is a beautiful old home converted to a piano showroom with dozens of interesting and unique pianos both new and restored. They’ve done an amazing job with all of the pianos they’ve restored. Milo was super fun to talk to, and I would highly recommend Northside Music for Piano repairs and restorations.
Apr 17, 2023 · Jack PorterProfessional, friendly team and do their job seamlessly! Love when they play the piano after a tuning too, it's a treat to listen to. Thank you for keeping my piano in tune!
Feb 12, 2025 · Noelle ItinWonderfully smooth experience with both piano moving and tuning/maintenance. Andrew was very thorough and knowledgeable and taught me a great deal about our piano!
Jan 15, 2025 · Rebecca MarksNot many places you go to buy a piano double as a history museum! North side music company has serviced, built, tuned, sold, and transported hundreds if not thousands of pianos. They are Master’s at their craft and Milo, the owner of the establishment, is happy to tell you all about it when you go inside to visit. I myself am not very good but was happy to have him show me their offerings from hundreds to tens of thousands of dollars worth of instruments. I was blown away that I was allowed to try all of them! I would highly recommend stopping by for yourself.
