I'm the proud owner of an early Artist Series Northfield mandolin. Recently, while attending the Marshall Bluegrass Festival in Marshall, Michigan, (which also happens to be the home of Northfield Mandolins), my beloved mandolin experienced a small run-in with the corner of a table. Not knowing if the damage was "structural" or just "cosmetic," I called and left a voicemail at Northfield explaining my dilemma. Derek Smith promptly returned my call and scheduled an appointment with me on the very same day to inspect the damage. Luckily, it was just cosmetic and everything "under the hood" on my mando was in fine shape. Naturally, I was relieved--just a "character mark" to add to my mando's life story. I want to give a tip of the hat to Northfield for the quality, sound, design, etc., of my Artist Series mandolin--pure perfection from my standpoint. I also want to give a huge shoutout to Derek for his prompt response to my call, his professionalism in explaining the intricacies, patiently answering all of my questions, and his assurance that all is well with my mandolin. On top of this the instruments were fantastic at every step while I was purchasing my instrument!
